Outdoor Camping Can't Be Beat on the Rim in AZ |

I'm so ready for some outdoor camping this weekend in the tall pines on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. I'm spending the afternoon getting our camping cookware put together so we can get out the door the minute my husband comes home from work. The weather is extremely hot. Today is supposed to hit 114 F. That is brutal heat, even hotter than what blows out of the furnace in the winter. Nothing beats outdoor camping when it's this hot in Phoenix. We have everything else but the camping cookware ready to go. We keep the tent, bedrolls and everything else in the garage ready to go so it's a snap to get out of town as fast as we can.
The drive up to the Rim, as we call it, is so easy. It's mostly four lanes of good road, and on a weekend like this one, traffic will be intensely heavy. Next weekend is Labor Day and we always stay put then. There is so much traffic. We are not the only ones who love outdoor camping, but my husband switches out his holidays at the office, so he'll have this Monday off, and work Labor Day, instead so we can take advantage of smaller crowds at the campsite where we love to go. Well, it's off to the store for dry ice and steaks and ribs. |
