swimmingSwimming has long been my favorite form of aerobic exercise. I have enjoyed swimming ever since I knew how and I can remember being a young child and feeling terribly excited when my mother took me to the public pool. Now swimming is something I do every day during the summer months because my husband and I have an in-ground pool on our property.
I like swimming because it is a low-impact exercise and I can do it for a long time without feeling fatigued. Twenty or thirty laps around our pool each day is not a problem for me. I also like swimming because I go into what I can only describe as a meditative state while I am doing it and this really helps me unwind. Once I am done with my laps and I get out of the pool feeling totally relaxed because I have gotten rid of any excess energy.
What I like best about swimming is the fact that it helps to keep my body toned and supple. I am not a skinny woman but nor do I have any areas of surplus fat on my body. This gives me the confidence to wear what I want with my head held high.
