outdoor camping, camping cookware

'Tis the Season for outdoor camping! Yes, and the bugs know it too! But there are precautions that can be taken that really work. I use a battery run "bug zapper" and some bug repellent. Bug repellent in a spray or lotion form works wonders. If everyone uses the repellent in the campsite along with the zapper you are in good shape against "bug attack!"

Once the bugs have been dealt with it is time to pull out the camping cookware and get busy! What would an outdoor camping trip be without hardy meals? After a day of hiking and swimming in the lake nothing is better than a camp stew. I start with a big dutch oven pot and toss in a roast along with some spices and water. It simmers all day on the campfire until the meat falls apart.

The waft of cooking meat will lure those tired hikers and swimmers back to camp in time to help with the finishing touches. Have them cut up potatoes and carrots and toss them in the pot. I have even made rolls on the camp fire.

Outdoor camping is a fun activity for all ages. Don't let the Season pass without giving it a try!
