If you're never been to New England camping you are missing out on an experience of a lifetime. However, to do your outdoor camping adventure any justice it all, you definitely need to take a few days and go camping in the Northern Maine Woods.

My family and I took off for the town of Millinocket, which is about an hour north of Bangor. Nestled off into logging country, you are definitely in the middle of nowhere. The campground, if you can call it that, is near famous Baxter State Park and is definitely not resort camping. This is outdoor camping at its very best. Setting up the tent, gathering fire wood, busting out the camping cookware, and even taking a walk through one of the trails went without any major events. However, upon coming back to the campground we noticed not one, but two, large black bears thoroughly enjoying the food we had brought.. and forgot to put away. Seeing the two bears, while a little scary, was well worth the drive into town to pick up some new food supplies.
