swimming Doggy Puddling with noodles

It is such a joy to go swimming with children. Children always have the funniest things to say, as they are so innocent in nature.
My step-son had gone over to a friend's house on the other side of town. They were going to spend the afternoon in the swimming pool. It was late in the summer, so the pool water was not heating up as much in the sunlight as it had earlier in the season. Translation? Colder water than normal. My step-son must not have been expecting it to be so cool, because when my friend dropped him back off later that afternoon, she had a funny story to tell. She said that after he jumped bravely into the water, he came up exclaiming how cold he was in one of those expressions that you wouldn't expect to hear from a fourteen year old kid... After chuckling about it, she said she explained to him that we didn't use terms like that out loud. He spent a small amount of time swimming in the pool that afternoon.
My oldest son was showing off his swimming abilities in the pool at my cousin's house during our family reunion. He was so proud of how well he was doing. As he took off across the pool, he exclaimed, "Look Mommy! I'm doggy puddling!" Laughter came from all over the poolside deck. It was just too cute!
